When asking “what’s a brand?” who better to talk to than the person who has written multiple books on the subject that are used by both practitioners and academics?
We are excited to have Robin Landa join us via video conference for this important conversation. Ms. Landa is a professor at Kean University in New Jersey. A little bit more about her, from her bio follows:
Robin Landa designs, tells brand stories, teaches, draws, writes, and presents at international conferences. Her design, writing, research, teaching, and art were recognized by The National Society of Arts and Letters, The National League of Pen Women, Creativity, the Art Directors Club of New Jersey, HOW Conference Gallery of Stars Exhibition, Graphic Design USA, and Kean University. Robin has won many awards including the New Jersey Authors Award, Kean University Teacher of the Year (2013), and the Rowan University Award for Design Education, among others. Robin is included among the Carnegie Foundation’s “Great Teachers of Our Time” and was a finalist in the Wall Street Journal’s Creative Leaders competition.
Robin has written 21 books about design, branding, advertising, creativity, drawing, and art, including her first (but not last) children’s book, The Dream Box, illustrated by Modern Dog Design Co.
Robin’s numerous tomes include the bestseller Graphic Design Solutions, 5th edition, Advertising by Design, 2nd edition, Build Your Own Brand: Strategies, Prompts, and Exercises for Marketing Yourself, DRAW! The Guided Sketchbook That Teaches You How To Draw, Take A Line For A Walk: A Creativity Journal, and Designing Brand Experiences. You can read some of them in Chinese and Spanish, too.
With esteemed colleagues, Robin co-authored 2D:Visual Basics for Designers with Rose Gonnella and Steven Brower; Visual Workout with Rose Gonnella; and a set of books: Creative Jolt & Creative Jolt Inspirations with Denise Anderson and Rose Gonnella.
As a Distinguished Professor in the Robert Busch School of Design at Kean University, Robin appreciates the opportunity to mentor very talented people. Robin’s students have gone on to successful visual communication careers in advertising, graphic design and illustration.
