Right Here In River City

There’s a buzz of excitement under the oaks in downtown Mobile. Music and art festivals, architectural renovations and corporate expansion are mingling downtown as a hub of innovation and activity emerges. Right in the middle of all this excitement, at 202 Government Street, The Exchange is getting a tailwind from a global trend that puts Mobile on track with today’s architects of workplace innovation around the world.

With solid wooden stools dotted around the lobby, a bustling coffee bar and a receptionist who says “awesome” as an affirmative, the ground floor of 1 Fore Street in the City of London has all the tell-tale hallmarks of a modern tech company.

The Coworking Europe 2015 conference in Milan this month will link 400 space operators and facilitators with potential tenants and speakers. The Coworking Europe blog tells the stories of European coworking environments and the ideas, innovations and challenges they face.

This map of the US show little activity in the Deep South, but The Exchange will soon take care of that! Usually a sleepy southern town, Mobile has traditionally followed far behind the wake of innovation. No more, though. With the ribbon cutting of the Exchange, Mobile forged ahead of other southern communities to join the rest of the world and embrace the future of workspace innovation in a downtown coworking hub. The Exchange 202 officially opened in October, offering entrepreneurs and freelancers an exciting alternative toworking from home or coffee shop meetings. Not that we don’t like coffee, of course. We’ve always got a pot brewing, to share among friends, coworkers and collaborators.
